Peat building blocks

Peat has been used as a fuel for hundreds of year. But Makutech foam binder is so strong that treated peat becomes incombustable and completely fire safe. Meet the building block of the future.

This is one of the applications for Makutech foam that shows the raw power with regard to fire protection. The negative PCS value of the foam (-3.5 MJ/kg dry) turns this traditional fuel material into a common building brick. Even a high power gas torch (at over 1200 C or 2200 F) is unable to set this modified peat in flames.

Ideally suited for locations with an abundant supply of peat and the desire to use this in a more environmentally sustainable way. Peat building blocks contain only natrural components, and can be recycled over and over again. Surplus, waste and even materials returned from demolition sites can be recycled directly back into the process.

After fluffing the peat foam binder is added. The mixture is fed into a mold and pressed. Drying can take place at room temperature to reduce energy consumption during production.
